B.S.P. i R. "Energoprojekt Katowice" SA is implementing a project subsidized by the National Center for Research and Development entitled DEsire.
The goal of the project is to develop a plan to decarbonize the country's energy sector through modernization with Generation III/III+ and IV nuclear reactors.
The progressive change in the nature of Poland's electricity system reinforces the need to develop a coherent structure to ensure its stability and security. The Decarbonization Plan is being developed through the implementation of seven research tasks and is intended to provide a roadmap for future Coal-to-Nuclear investment processes. The project plans to launch a national Energy Transformation Cluster (KTE), which will provide an organizational base for activities in the transformation process of the country's power plants and thermal power plants.
The project is being implemented as part of a consortium formed by five entities: Silesian University of Technology, the Ministry of Climate and Environment, Energoprojekt-Katowice SA, the Institute of Chemistry and Nuclear Technology and the Sobieski Institute Foundation. Funding for the project was obtained under the 6th competition of the National Research and Development Center "Gospostrateg".
