It is for the third time that we’re taking part in Katowice Business Run, a unique charity business run in form of a relay.
By participating in the run, we support the charges of Jasiek Mela’s Foundation Poza Horyzonty („Beyond Horizons”) which helps people who have been subject to amputations as a result of different accidents or illnesses. The condition they found themselves in has changed their lives forever. Those people are often in wheelchairs, walking on crutches or poor quality prostheses. Facing omnipresent rejection and financial problems, they simply cannot accept their situation. At the same time, they have dreams – dreams of normal functioning, life in society and not beyond it, dreams about gaining education or undertaking a job. Most of the time, however, they dream about leaving the house without fear, taking a tram, going shopping, riding a bike, playing football, dancing, running or simply going down the stairs…
In 2016 we’re running for Paulina!
Paulina Zabłocka is 24 years old and lives in Katowice. In 2008 she had a serious accident – she fell under a train. Although Paulina remembers nothing from that day, the consequences of that accident are not easy to forget. After amputation of both lower limbs she had suffered from depression. Every cloud has a silver lining though – all misfortune that happened to this girl helped her find incredible energy in herself and inner strength. Paulina has become much, much stronger than she was before. She gladly participates in professional photo shoots because, as she says, being disabled doesn’t mean you don’t have to take care of yourself anymore. Now, looking forward to every new day, all she needs in order to live fully, not only mentally but also physically, is a quality prosthesis. Currently Paulina is dreaming of running, swimming, spending time actively.

Promoting healthy lifestyle, helping others and good business relationships have always been a part of the corporate social responsibility of ENERGOPROJEKT-KATOWICE SA.
Katowice Business Run is a unique charity event which helps the victims of unfortunate accidents. Its aim is to change their lives for the better and fulfill their dreams of returning to normal life. Therefore, we supported the Business Run for three times as participants and since 2016 also as a sponsor.
Our employees are extremely enthusiastic about next editions of the Run which is reflected in the strong representation of EPK consisting of as many as six teams. Immense satisfaction that comes from helping others and the possibility to actively spend time with colleagues from work in a little bit more loose atmosphere, attracts more and more participants every year. At this point, we can not imagine future editions of Business Run without our involvement. It is an initiative worthy of support which we sincerely recommend.
